SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. ? Lake Superior State University students in Prof. Valerie Philips? Sports and Events Marketing class will host ?Run for the Law,? a 5K run/walk on Nov. 3 to benefit The Thin Blue Line of Michigan.
Community members may support the cause by running or walking a course that begins at 10 a.m. on campus at LSSU?s Crawford Hall of Science. The students are also seeking volunteers who would work the event from 9-11 a.m.
The run/walk will benefit The Thin Blue Line of Michigan, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to families of ill, disabled or deceased members of the law enforcement community, which also includes firefighters, dispatchers, corrections, EMT, EMS and administrative clerks. The organization provides support in the areas of financial, legal, benefit recovery, counseling, funeral and college stipends, medical costs, medical equipment and more.
?In organizing this event, our mission is to raise awareness and funds for this valuable and worthy cause,? said Alex Feravich, a sports and recreation management major from Kent, Mich., who said the group is organizing the event under the slogan, ?All gave some, some gave all; Here?s your chance to run for the law.?
?All ages are welcome, and we could really use some volunteers to help out during the run,? Feravich added.
Runners may register on the students? website, RunninForTheLawSSM.blogspot.
